Nearly half of American adults now order from kids’ menus when dining out, according to a new survey. Experts say adults are choosing kids’ meals for smaller portions and lower prices as restaurant costs rise. Retail expert Neil Saunders of GlobalData told Daily Mail, “Adults are likely drawn to kids meals for two reasons. One is to save money, since kids meals are often cheaper. The other is to get a smaller portion, as some adult meals can be oversized.” Lightspeed, the company behind the survey, noted that simplicity and familiarity also attract adults. The Consumer Price Index shows restaurant prices have increased 3.9 percent in the past year. Chains like McDonald’s have responded by offering adult Happy Meals with smaller portions and retro collectibles. (Story URL)
