A recent study showed that Louisiana has the highest rates of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the US, with 1,200 cases per 100,000 residents. Following closely behind are Mississippi and Alaska. Louisiana also leads in chlamydia cases, while Alaska has the highest gonorrhea rates. Georgia topped the list for HIV infections, and South Dakota had the highest rate of syphilis. On the other hand, states in New England, such as Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, have the lowest STD rates. Factors contributing to higher rates in certain states include limited access to sexual health clinics and lack of mandated sex education in schools. Women are 10% more likely than men to be diagnosed with an STD. (Dailymail)
